Emails sent to me are being rejected as SPAM

WebGuyz has a very agressive anti-spam system is place. A variety of tests are run against every email coming into our system.

Sometimes an email is flagged as SPAM when it really isn't and this is known as a "false positive". The reasons can include:

  • The senders ISP mail server could have been submitted to a spam "blacklist" because one of their customers did send some spam. We subscribe to a number of the most effective blacklists.
  • Certain phrases that are common in spam may be in the email being sent
  • Certain attachments that may be dangerous and could carry a virus (like .exe, .zip, .cmd)

To combat false positives WebGuyz uses a "whitelist". The whitelist is a listing of all email addresses that can send you mail and that you trust. Any email address on your whitelist is let through with NO spam checking.

Whitelisting is done in 2 ways:

  1. When you send an email to someone, that users email address is automatically added to your personal whitelist. We have an automated process that runs every 10 minutes that scans the outgoing email list and updates all the whitelists. If someone is having problems sending you mail, send them an email and wait 10 minutes.
  2. You can access your personal Spam Admin Tool. To do this go to:

    http://spam.webguyz.net/

Enter your full email address and email password. There you can view any email that have been "caught" by the spam filter in the last 48 hours and if there are any false positives you can check them off and press the Send button. Two things will happen, the mail you checked will be forwarded to you, and that sender will automatically be added to your personal whitelist so it won't get stopped in the future.

If you have any further questions or problems with the Anti-Spam system please open a Support Ticket.
